Papillon means Butterfly in French. Butterflies are a symbol of hope and continuity, but they also represent a form of salvation from despair, because just when the caterpillar thought the world was over it turned into a butterfly.
Those beautiful creations are also positive proof that nothing happens without hard work and a bit of struggle. To become this beautiful the caterpillar has to endure many changes that don’t just happen overnight.
In Collection Pappillon, the embroidery is based on that very moment when the caterpillar turns into a butterfly. A reminder that there will always be light at the end of every tunnel, and that in order to taste the sweet one must also taste the sour.
This season is all about metallic, muted sequence and light crepe fabrics with shades of violets, blues, grays and purple. There is also a new concept of capes, wrap cape shirts and a new adaptation of the wrap dress with the unique touches of Toby Femme. There is also the light and airy jacket that can also be worn as a long shirt, giving the Toby Femme the versatility to style it over other pieces as something elegant and unique or wear it as an ensemble on its own.
The Toby Femme aesthetic and ethos have always been inspired by architecture, sleek cuts and Japanese influence. Therefore, a line of kimono belts has also been specially designed to complete the look of this collection.
As one of my favorite poets Maya Angelou once said: “we delight in the beauty of the butterfly but rarely admit the changes it has to go through to achieve its beauty.”
